How to Repair the Air Condition Control in your 1977-1982 C3 Corvette

Now is the perfect time of year to make sure the air conditioning in your Corvette is ready for the coming summer months. If you have to play with the air conditioning control switch in your 1977-1982 Corvette to make the system operate or if the control lever is sloppy and you sometimes hear a slight hissing sound, it’s probably time to replace the air conditioning control head assembly.

The assembly is held together by a small plastic clip and metal spring washer. After 20+ years of use, these Corvette Parts become very loose, forcing you to hunt for each stop in the switch. Sometimes, the plastic clip will break, causing the switch to separate which means the air conditioning controls won’t even operate.

The good news is that the repair is very simple and the only tools needed are a few Phillips screwdrivers and some white lithium grease. Start by disconnecting the battery. Then, remove the shift lever knob and T-handle, if it is a 4-speed. Remove the console side trim and console top plate screws.

How to Rebuild the Clock in your 1963-1982 Corvette

The most common problem in 1963-1982 Corvettes is not something major like the engine or transmission. No, the most common problem in C2 and C3 Corvettes is a clock that does not work. While it may seem like a minor issue, it can be a major annoyance.

The electric clocks included in 1963-1982 Corvettes all seem determined to self destruct. If, by chance, your clock is still working, it’s probably so slow that it’s useless.  Thankfully, there’s an easy, affordable fix – and you can do it yourself.

The remedy is a 1963-1982 Corvette Clock Quartz Movement Kit from Zip. You’ll also want to consider needle paint, bezel paint and a new lens to complete your project. The fist step is to remove your clock as per your Corvette shop manual’s instructions. We always recommend that you have your shop manual close by whenever starting any DIY project. A few additional tools and supplies will be needed for the conversion: small pliers, needle nose pliers, flat blade screwdriver, 5/16″ nut driver and a paint brush.
