The C2 Corvette Rear Script or emblem, along with virtually all other decorative trim and insignia on Mid-Year Corvettes, is made of chrome-plated pot metal. Over time, due to exposure to moisture and the elements, the chrome plating develops pits and pocks as the pot metal underneath the plating reacts to changes in moisture content and air-borne chemicals.
Don’t be tempted to overlook the “small” details when restoring your classic Corvette. A fresh paint job just doesn’t look right with emblems that have suffered from exposure. While replacing this script is a bit more involved then one would think at first blush, it’s easy enough to do with some simple tools and a couple of hours worth of labor.
Follow along with Zip’s technical article 1963-1967 Corvette Rear Deck Emblem Installation as we replace an original 1967 Corvette rear script that was riddled with pitting and general weather wear. Previously removed and remounted incorrectly by a former owner, the emblem produced an annoying rattle when the car was idling. Our tech article documents the replacement project, step-by-step, with photos included. It’s exactly the info you’ll need to get your own C2 Corvette rear script replaced and your Corvette looking great once again.

Give the rear view of your 1956 – 1957 Corvette new life by installing LED tail lights - you’ll also increase safety and efficiency as you drive. LED lights are brighter, appear quicker, burn cooler and last longer than your C1 Corvette’s factory tail light bulbs.
Each 1956-1957 Corvette LED Tail Light Lens & Bulb Assembly Kit includes a new reproduction tail light lens, LED light bulb assembly and wiring harness pigtail that will connect directly into your Corvette rear wiring harness. There are no modifications required for this installation and you can return your Corvette back to its factory, original appearance at any time. Sold in pairs.
While you’re equipping your Corvette with LED lights, you may also want to consider a Corvette LED Flasher Assembly. LED bulbs draw much less current than factory style bulbs, so your turn signal indicators will flash faster due to a blown bulb warning. These replacement flashers will provide the resistance needed to make the LED turn signals flash correctly. Fully electronic, no load replacement flashers are made for LED technology and will drive your LED indicator bulbs safely. Ground Black wire to a body or dash ground.
All 1974-1982 Corvettes rolled out of the factory with urethane bumpers (73 was front only). A great choice, due to its ability to bend and stretch. However, with age and prolonged exposure to the sun, urethane will shrink, ripple, become brittle and eventually break into pieces. Before Flexi-glass, and now TruFlex, the only substitute was a fiberglass replacement that was vulnerable to even the slightest impact.
1973-1982 Corvette TruFlex Bumper Covers from Zip are constructed of fiberglass and a revolutionary resin that makes them 70% more flexible than fiberglass only bumpers.
TruFlex features a black gel coat finish that has the look and feel of urethane – with the flexibility of fiberglass. Genuine TruFlex bumpers will not shrink, warp or ripple. They require no flexing agent when painting and will match the painted surface of your C3 Corvette.
Your Corvette deserves the very best. When you outfit your C3 with TruFlex Bumper Covers from Zip, you are sporting the finest bumpers available!
