Everyone wants their late model Corvette to be the hottest car on the road…..but hot should mean cool, not sweltering! You may find it hard to stay cool while driving your C5 or C6 Corvette – high temperatures in the center console area have always been an issue. The heat you’re feeling is from the exhaust system, radiating up through the driveline tunnel. But we’ve got good news – there is an easy fix!
Replace the factory close out panel with a new Elite Engineering Tunnel Plate and you can expect a noticable difference! C5 owners will enjoy an estimated 90+ degree drop in temperature under the center console and C6 Corvette owners can expect about 60+ degree drop of the same. The new tunnel plate is a 1/4 inch aluminum plate verses the factory stamped steel plate in a C5 Corvette or the 1/8 aluminum plate used on all factory C6 Corvettes. The Elite Engineering plate has a ceramic coating on all sides and composite fiberglass thermal material on the underside to prevent unwanted heat from radiating up through the console.

The factory Z06 & ZR1 Corvette Exhaust uses 3″ mid-section pipes, but pinches down to 2.5″ at the mufflers – resulting in clipped performance, especially when adding bolt-on performance enhancements such as air intake systems, superchargers or head/cam packages. Exhaust System Round Tips
The C5 Corvette Fusion Exhaust System is a bi-modal exhaust system, meaning it has two passages, or modes, that the exhaust can travel through the muffler. Each of the mufflers has two outlets, with one side having a butterfly type valve which allows the exhaust flow to be shut off, regulating which side of the muffler the flows exhaust. One side of the muffler is the “quiet” side, and one side is the “loud” side. The “quiet” side is a smaller, muffled and chambered tube, while the “loud” side is 3” straight through tube.
Exhaust System - Oval Tips
This system uses the basic design of the B&B “Bullet” system with a bi-modal muffler, butterfly, and vacuum valve, which provides the driver a choice in the overall sound level. The “loud” side of the muffler has an aggressive tone similar to the famous B&B Bullet Exhaust System. In the closed position, the tone would be slightly louder than the standard B&B Route 66 system.
The butterfly is controlled by a vacuum valve. Since the C5 Corvette has no factory option for the valve, B&B engineered a vacuum kit with a manual control. The kit comes complete with all the wiring, control switch, vacuum line, vacuum accumulators, and vacuum switch needed for installation. We have used the engine as the vacuum source and the installation is simple and straight forward.
Each part of the system will fit to a stock H-pipe. Billy Boat has combined the best of the Bullet exhaust with the best new technology to give you the Fusion System for your C5 Corvette.
