You may think it would be hard to improve on the very potent ZR1 Corvette since it comes from GM with 638 hp, but it is possible. The Corvette engineers did a fantastic job of bringing us an awesome car, but they also gave us something capable of more. If you really want to step up your Corvette’s exhaust system then consider a set of Kooks Custom Headers from Zip Corvette. Kooks Stepped Header design, which is included in this power package melds the particular advantages of specific tube diameters: low end torque from 1 3/4″ primaries at the flange, then opening up to 2″ tubes for unrestricted top end. Built by Kooks Custom Headers, manufactured from mandrel bent 304 stainless steel with 3/8″ flanges and 3″ collectors. Also included in the LS9 ZR1 Corvette Power Package is the clean-sheet engineered C6 ZR1 Corvette Corsa Sport Exhaust System. Corsa’s famous sport system includes a race car like sound at full throttle yet a calm sound great for cruising speeds, military grade 321L stainless steel, and an increase in horsepower and airflow over the stock application. The quad 4″ exhaust tips finished with the Corsa logo adds the finishing touches to this near perfect Corvette exhaust.

Take a look at a couple of our before and after dyno runs of a customers ZR1 Corvette with our LS9 power package installed. As you can see in the graph the ZR1 Corvette was producing 429 rear wheel horsepower and 410 ft-lbs. of torque at 5500 rpm (red). After installation of our ZR1 Corvette Power Package the ZR1 produced 534 rear wheel horsepower and 510 ft-lbs. of torque at the same 5500 rpm (blue). That’s an improvement of over 100 horsepower and 100 ft-lbs. of torque on a stock ZR1 Corvette. Not only did this ZR1 produce greater numbers but it sounded like a pure race car with the C6 Corsa Exhaust System, Kooks Headers, and Kooks Mid Section. So if you thought adding to your ZR1 Corvette was impossible you may want to think again. Our power package will make any stock ZR1 accelerate faster and produce approximately100 more horsepower to the rear wheels.

  1. I have recently upgraded my ZR1 Corvette with Zip’s LS9 power Package. The car’s “personality”, when I get on the gas pedal, has completely changed. It is FAR more lively, and has an exhaust note that cries of power. Driven normally, the Corvette is (almost) as civil as it was before. It does bark a bit on shifts, but the great part is that the barking is fully controllable with small changes in shift RPM. What I also think is that the stock ZR1 is a little bit to civil for a 638 HP car. Kudos to Corvette engineers for that because that was clearly the intent. But for a performance enthusiast, the ZR1 Corvette’s behavior, and especially its sound, are a bit on the tame side. With the modifications performed the ZR1 is like a well-trained beast on a very short leash. The accelerator response is phenomenal! Simply dial up 3000+ RPM, in any gear from 1 to 4, stab the pedal and the beast roars, spins its tires and wags its tail! What’s cool about this is that you can show off the power of the Corvette in a very short distance and without making it go all that fast. But of course, spinning the tires at highway speed is kinda cool too. It’s the shear acceleration on demand that makes it so much more fun to drive now. Even though the modified ZR1 is blistering quick, it is quite easy to drive fast in a straight line. It’s hair-raising, but easy. In a nutshell, I like my ZR1 Corvette a whole lot better now!

  2. Kirk…Who did the installation? Was it very expensive and what about the warranty? Do you know if it will cause a problem?

  3. Joe…Zip Products did the installation. I had a set of Kooks Headers already and I got a bit of a deal on the package because I have loaned my ZR1 for testing and stuff. You need to talk to Justin Abbott at Zip 1-800-962-9632 ext. 256 about the cost.

    With respect to warranty, I do not expect GM to warranty my Corvette if I modify beyond a bit of bolt-on stuff. I have 2 Corvettes that I have modified and just accept the fact that my warranty is now limited or gone.
